Health Professionals Hail Matawalle’s Impact on Zamfara Healthcare
THE ASSOCIATION of Health Professionals of Nigeria has commended the former governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, for his transformative impact on the state’s health sector, particularly the establishment of the Damba Infectious Disease Center.

The association’s national president, Dr. Chukwuemeka Collins, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, highlighted Matawalle’s administration as one that prioritized the health and well-being of the people through bold and innovative projects.

“His administration not only identified critical gaps in healthcare delivery but also took decisive action to address them,” Dr. Collins said.

“The Damba Infectious Disease Center is a testament to his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.”

The Damba facility, described as state-of-the-art, is equipped to address infectious disease challenges effectively.

Dr. Collins noted that the center stands as a proactive step towards managing potential health crises and ensuring the resilience of the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Matawalle’s tenure also saw significant improvements in access to quality medical services, according to the association.

Efforts were particularly directed towards underserved communities, ensuring they benefited from enhanced healthcare delivery.

“This bold initiative not only showcased his dedication to tackling pressing health concerns but also reflected his compassion and determination to bridge healthcare inequalities,” Dr. Collins added.

The association’s findings indicated that under Matawalle’s leadership, Zamfara State’s health sector experienced remarkable progress.

His policies and projects were said to have left an enduring legacy of improved healthcare delivery across the state.

“His relentless efforts in transforming the health sector reflect a deep-seated concern for the well-being of his people. He demonstrated that leadership, when combined with compassion and vision, can yield tangible and lasting progress,” Dr. Collins emphasized.

Matawalle, now serving as Minister of State for Defence, has been described as a leader whose impact transcends his tenure.

The association urged other leaders to emulate his example by prioritizing the health sector in their policies and projects.
