Nigerian ground and air forces have intensified their campaign against notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, destroying key hideouts and dealing a blow to his network in Zamfara State.
As part of Operation Fansan Yanma, military forces targeted multiple camps in the Shinkafi Local Government Area, including those at Zangon Dan Gwandi, Zangon Tsaika, and Zangon Kagara. A school used by Turji for storing supplies was also destroyed.
Intelligence sources confirmed the operation resulted in the death of Turji’s son and several key lieutenants. Despite Turji’s calls for reinforcements, none of his allies responded, and one of his spies narrowly escaped.
The operation, a joint effort by elite troops from Operation Hadarin Daji and Navy Special Boat Service personnel, is being hailed as a major success in the fight against banditry.
Reports suggest that Turji’s group suffered further casualties, including four injured fighters, while others fled with stolen livestock. Turji himself remains holed up in Zangon Gebe, surrounded by armed men.
