Jigawa Residents Celebrates Trump’s Inauguration with Festivities and songs

Residents of Jigawa State in northwest Nigeria joined the global spotlight on January 20, 2025, as they celebrated the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. The festivities featured a lively gathering, a specially composed song in Trump’s honor, and expressions of admiration for his principles.

In a video shared online, the celebration, led by popular Hausa singers Jamilu Majiya and Adams, showcased Trump’s enduring appeal across borders. The singers described the former president as a symbol of strength and resilience whose values resonate with many Nigerians.

The song, performed in both Hausa and English, highlighted Trump’s leadership qualities and commitment to his supporters. One of the lyrics reads:
“God chose you, made you, and protected you. Always take care of your supporters.”

Trump’s return to the White House marked a historic political comeback, securing 276 electoral college votes to defeat Kamala Harris, who garnered 219 votes in a closely contested race. His swearing-in ceremony, held in Washington, D.C., was attended by global dignitaries. Vice President JD Vance was also sworn in by Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

In his inaugural address, Trump declared, “The golden age of America starts now,” pledging to end the perceived weaponization of the Justice Department and promising to restore balance to the scales of justice.

Trump added, “It is my hope that our recent presidential election will be remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country.”

The Jigawa celebration underscores Trump’s global influence, with supporters in Nigeria expressing hope that his policies would strengthen ties between the United States and Africa. The event also highlights the reach of political admiration across cultural and geographical boundaries.
