Bianca Ojukwu’s Sons Withdraw from Family Property Legal Battle

A new development has emerged in the ongoing dispute over Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL) properties, as Afamefuna and Nwachukwu, sons of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, move to withdraw their application to join the legal battle.

The Lagos State High Court has set March 10, 2025, to hear the withdrawal application, dated December 16, 2024. The application seeks to reverse their earlier request to participate in the 2011 property suit initiated by Ogbonna Ojukwu and others against OTL.

The case, which resulted in a 2018 judgment granting OTL possession of its Lagos properties, including the iconic No. 29 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, has seen numerous twists. OTL enforced the judgment in July 2022, but Afamefuna and Nwachukwu later argued that their exclusion from the case would cause a miscarriage of justice, as their interests were directly impacted.

The late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu had been involved in the original suit before his death in 2011.

OTL representatives, including Director Dr. P. Ike Ojukwu and estate agent Massey Udegbe, claim lingering rent disputes on multiple properties have hindered management efforts. These include arrears of N144 million owed by West African Offshore Limited for a property at 30 Gerard Road, Ikoyi, and unpaid rents on other properties since 2017.

The court’s forthcoming decision will determine whether Afamefuna and Nwachukwu’s withdrawal signifies the end of their involvement in the long-standing property feud.
