The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has announced the restoration of full bulk power supply to its 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation in Abuja, effective Thursday, January 23, 2025.
According to a statement on Friday signed by TCN’s head of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the restoration follows the successful relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line (Southern Expressway route), necessitated by the Federal Capital Development Authority, (FCDA)’s road dualisation project along the Apo axis.
It would recalled that TCN notified the public some two weeks ago announced planned power rationing around the Central Area of Abuja due to a road dualisation project being embarked upon by the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, along the Apo axis that necessitated relocation of 8 number 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line (Outer Southern Expressway route), affecting bulk power supply to the Substation.
TCN said the two-week relocation work, which commenced on Monday, January 6, 2025, involved dismantling, and reconstructing the towers, as well as restringing power cables.
And that with the restoration of full bulk power supply now, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) could provide normal electricity supply from the substation to its customers in the affected areas, ending the previous load rationing.
The company expressed appreciation to the affected electricity consumers during this period for their the patience and understanding.
