Nigerian Business Icon Reveals Path to Restoring Nation’s Global Reputation

Prince Afolabi Andu, CEO of Global Africa Investments Limited and founder of the Nigeria Achievers Awards Institute, has shared his experiences and advice on improving Nigeria’s global image. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Andu recounted his journey as a Nigerian entrepreneur in the UK and his vision for fostering a positive Nigerian identity abroad.

A Pioneer’s Path

Andu’s journey began in 1986 when he moved to the United Kingdom as a teenager to pursue education and business opportunities. “Back then, there were no African-owned businesses in the UK. I became a pioneer, launching Cebar Promotions, a company that organized major events for luxury brands like Versace and Claude Montana,” he said.

Despite racial challenges, Andu remained focused. “Racism was a reality, but I saw it as part of my training ground. I refused to let it define me,” he added.

Reshaping Nigeria’s Image

Andu emphasized the need for Nigerians abroad to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and cultural pride to reshape the country’s reputation. “We must show the world the depth of our creativity and resilience, while upholding ethical practices in business and governance,” he advised.

Education as a Catalyst

Reflecting on his early days at Ellesmere College, a traditional British boarding school, Andu noted that quality education is key to empowering young Nigerians to compete on a global stage. “Education gave me the foundation to thrive. Investing in youth education will elevate Nigeria’s image and foster future leaders,” he said.

As Nigeria navigates global challenges, Andu’s insights serve as a call to action for citizens to collaborate in promoting a united, forward-thinking nation.
