The National Assembly has shifted its resumption of plenary sessions from January 28 to February 4, 2025, to accommodate ongoing budget defence engagements.
This was announced by Andrew Nwoba, Clerk of the Senate, in a statement on Saturday, explaining the need for additional time to finalize discussions on the 2025 budget.
“Due to the ongoing budget defence, the resumption date has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 4th February 2025, at 11 a.m.,” the statement read.
Similarly, the House of Representatives confirmed the postponement through Akin Rotimi, its spokesperson, quoting an internal memorandum from Clerk Yahaya Danzaria.
“The decision allows committees to conclude budget engagements and ensures a thorough approach to legislative duties,” the statement noted.
The National Assembly assured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive legislative process in finalizing the 2025 budget.
