Ogunremi, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), revealed that her decision was driven by empathy for the potential distress of the money’s owner. “The thought of the pain or trauma it could cause inspired me,” she said. “I didn’t hesitate to return it because of my Christian faith and belief in honesty.”
After locating the rightful owner, Ogunremi reported the find to her employer. Her act of kindness has been met with widespread admiration from her colleagues, management, and the owner of the money, who expressed immense gratitude.
“The management was proud of me, and my coworkers praised the gesture, saying it reflected my character,” Ogunremi recounted. “The owner was incredibly thankful and showered me with praises.”
She credited her upbringing for her values, highlighting the influence of her late father, who instilled in her the principle of never taking what doesn’t belong to her.
