The Kogi State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr. Olufemi Bolarin as Commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development.
Bolarin, nominated by Governor Ahmed Ododo, was screened and unanimously approved by lawmakers during a plenary session on Tuesday.
The ministry was created on January 10 as part of the state’s effort to enhance livestock management in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Before his nomination, Bolarin served as the State Project Coordinator for the Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project. Addressing lawmakers, he pledged to improve livestock productivity, enhance food security, and attract investment to the sector.
Speaker Umar Yusuf urged Bolarin to leverage his expertise to drive growth in the livestock industry.
Bolarin, an Associate Professor, holds degrees in Agriculture from Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ilorin. His international experience spans Australia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and Kenya, positioning him to implement global best practices in Kogi State.
