The Nigerian National electricity grid has suffered another bout of instability, throwing parts of the country into darkness at about 11am on Wednesday.
This makes the second grid failure in the last one month after the one that occurred on Januar 11,2025.
According to data on the System Operator (SO)’s portal, the collapse occurred around 11:30 am on Wednesday.
Confirming this latest incident, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in a public notice posted on its X handle said,
“We regret to inform you that a system
disturbance occurred on the national grid at 11:34 am today (Wednesday), causing a power outage across our franchise areas.
“While gradual restoration of power supply has commenced, please be assured that we are working closely with relevant stakeholders to fully restore electricity as soon as the grid is stabilised.”

The cause of this grid disturbance is yet to be ascertained as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the custodian of the grid, is yet to respond on the development
Instability or collapse of the grid has been a recurring incident in recent times, with about 12 recorded in 2024.
