A Nigerian man, Adiyako Masaliyo, lost his life in Bellahalli, Bhagaluru, India, on Wednesday after a dispute with a local resident, Yasin Khan.
The conflict reportedly began over allegations of drug dealing.
According to reports from an Indian news outlet, Khan accused Masaliyo of being involved in drug-related activities.
The argument escalated when Masaliyo, who was at a chicken shop with an associate, was confronted by Khan and some locals.
Tensions rose, leading to a physical altercation.
During the fight, Masaliyo allegedly attacked Khan and grabbed a knife from the shop, threatening him.
In response, Khan struck him on the head with a wooden object. Masaliyo sustained severe head injuries and collapsed on the spot.
Police investigations later confirmed that no drugs or illegal items were found on Masaliyo, and he had no prior criminal record.
The authorities have since arrested Khan and charged him with murder.
