The US has deported another batch of illegal Indian immigrants, with 12 individuals arriving in Delhi from Panama as part of a broader crackdown by the Trump administration.
This follows the deportation of over 300 Indians this month alone.
Among the returnees, four individuals from Punjab have already reached their hometowns in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Patiala, and Jalandhar. Indian officials have confirmed their arrival.
The deportations, which have intensified recently, have sparked political controversy in India. The opposition Congress party criticized the Modi government for not ensuring a more dignified return for the deportees.
Despite concerns over the treatment of deportees, India’s foreign minister S. Jaishankar stated that such deportations have been happening for years, and the government is engaging with the US to ensure fair treatment.
