The United States has announced its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) list, allowing citizens of 40 countries to enter without a visa for up to 90 days. However, the UK, Nigeria, and all other African nations are absent from the list.
While most of the countries on the previous VWP list remain, Romania has been newly added. The US has placed emphasis on security checks and border control standards in determining eligibility. The UK, though not on the list, can still qualify under specific conditions.
The US Bureau of Consular Affairs explained that travelers from VWP countries must have an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before departure. Those who do not qualify under the program must apply for a visa.
This update impacts travelers globally by simplifying entry for millions while maintaining strict security measures. The program continues to focus on nations with strong diplomatic ties and stable border policies.
