The Vice Chairman of Council Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo who represented the Chairman of council emphasized the need to sensitise members of the Correspondents Chapel, towards building a better union.

She stressed the need to uphold professionalism, promote excellence, and unity among the members.

Ike emphasised on the importance of ethical and professional standard as watchdog and mirror of society.

“ The council provided scholarships to equip members with necessary skills and knowledge.

“We believe that investing in our members’ education, training and retraining will promote and enrich the knowledge and skills of journalists in Abuja.

“ Elections have come and gone and there is need for unity in the chapel”

The Chairman emphasized on continuing education and professional development for journalists, given the evolving media landscape.

“We commit to providing training and resources for our members to succeed in this changing environment.
Investing in our members will build a stronger, more resilient union equipped to meet 21st-century challenges.”

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of the Correspondents Chapel and Abuja Council to promote unity, professionalism, and excellence within the journalism community.

The call to sensitize members of the Correspondents Chapel towards building a better union is of paramount importance, given its strategic position as a gateway to the council.

She urged the leadership of Correspondents Chapel to continue in raising the bar of excellence and standards and ensuring that only qualified and professional journalists are admitted into the chapel.

The Chapel must establish and maintain the highest standards of excellence and get rid of quacks.

This will guarantee that only bonafide journalists with commitment to professionalism are admitted, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the Chapel and the Council.

Acting Chairman Felix Ojo commended the union’s leadership for embracing the “One Voice, New Era” mantra, promoting unity and solidarity among journalists. He thanked the Abuja Council for support and guidance.

“We commit to working with the Abuja Council to promote Abuja journalists’ interests,” Ojo said.

The courtesy visit marked significant progress in promoting unity, professionalism, and excellence within the journalism community.

Other members of the delegation included key members of the Correspondents’ Chapel Executive Committee: Comrade Raphael Oni (Secretary), Comrade Sharon Emephia (Assistant Secretary) and Comrade Henrietta Momodu (Financial Secretary).
