Nigerian travelers on an Air France flight from Paris to Abuja found themselves stranded in Lomé, Togo, after their flight was diverted due to bad weather.
The unexpected delay has sparked frustration, with Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, calling out the airline’s handling of the situation.
Keyamo shared his concerns on social media, revealing that the flight had been forced to land in Lomé because of poor weather in Abuja. However, instead of quickly returning the passengers once conditions improved, the airline reportedly planned to leave them in Togo overnight—even though the same aircraft was scheduled to fly back to Abuja to pick up other passengers.
Taking immediate action, Keyamo instructed the Director of Air Transport Management to contact Air France’s country manager. He also personally reached out to the airline’s Nigerian office, demanding that stranded passengers either be flown back to Abuja the same night or receive proper accommodations in line with international standards.
As of now, Air France has not released an official statement on the situation, leaving passengers and officials waiting for clarity on how the issue will be resolved.
