Muslim Scholars Call for Immediate Action to Prevent Crisis in Gaza

JABALIA, GAZA - MARCH 1: Palestinians in Jabalia Camp are viewed as they continue their daily lives in rubble buildings or tents, on the first day of holy month of Ramadan, at Jabalia Refugee Camp, located in the north of the Gaza Strip, on March 1, 2025. With the end of the 42-day first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza, Palestinians are worried that Israel will continue its attacks. ( Abd Khaled - Anadolu Agency )

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has issued a strong warning about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Secretary-General Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi has raised concerns over Israel’s continued ban on humanitarian aid, which has left thousands of civilians at risk due to severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.

The situation in Gaza has reached a critical point. With health services on the verge of collapse, the lives of many, especially children and the sick, are under threat. The ongoing blockade has made it nearly impossible for aid organizations to deliver essential supplies, increasing the suffering of the people in the region.

Leaders within the Muslim world are calling for immediate action. Al-Sallabi urged Arab and Islamic governments, as well as citizens, to step up efforts to support Palestinians. He emphasized the need for urgent humanitarian aid and stronger political and diplomatic efforts to pressure Israel into lifting the blockade.

The crisis worsened after Israel halted all aid shipments on March 2, following the breakdown of a temporary ceasefire. Since then, conditions in Gaza have deteriorated rapidly, with no signs of relief. Aid agencies warn that without immediate intervention, the situation could spiral into a full-scale humanitarian disaster.

The call for action is growing louder. With the people of Gaza facing increasing hardship, the international community is under pressure to push for urgent solutions that allow aid to reach those in desperate need.
