The Al-Qassam Brigades launched a rocket barrage toward Tel Aviv today in retaliation for Israel’s recent military assault on Gaza, marking the first rocket attack since the ceasefire agreement was broken.
In a brief statement, the group confirmed it fired M90-type rockets at Tel Aviv, calling it a response to “Zionist massacres against civilians” in Gaza. The Israeli military acknowledged the rocket fire, stating that one was intercepted by air defenses while two others landed in open areas. No casualties have been reported.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that air raid sirens sounded across central Israel following the attack.
This escalation comes after Israel carried out a surprise aerial assault on Gaza earlier this week, killing over 700 Palestinians and injuring more than 900. The airstrikes shattered the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January.
