Officers from the Delta State Police Command has arrested Apostle Festus Alilu, Senior Pastor of Word of Life Gospel Church, Abuja.
The arrest which took place in Abuja, at the early hours of Friday, March 21, 2025, was allegedly at the instance of Presiding Pastor of “The Master’s Place Int’l Church,” Effurun, Delta State, Korede Komaiya.
The controversy began when Pastor Komaiya made a statement claiming that Jesus died due to poverty and lack of money. Apostle Alilu, who disagreed with Komaiya’s assertion, publicly called him out, leading to the unexpected arrest.
“It’s unfortunate that the Body of Christ has suffered in the hands of charlatans,” said a source close to the matter. “Pastor Komaiya’s statement was widely condemned, and Apostle Alilu’s response was seen as a necessary correction.”
As the news of the arrest spreads, many are questioning the motives behind Pastor Komaiya’s actions and the involvement of law enforcement in a matter that appears to be a theological dispute.
“This is a clear case of abuse of power and an attempt to silence dissenting voices,” said another source. “We demand that Apostle Alilu be released immediately and that Pastor Komaiya be held accountable for his actions.”
