Rivers Crisis: Taraba State Religious Leader call on President Tinubu to also suspend Wike for six months

Emmanuel Awari-Jalingo

The Acting Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Taraba State, Rev. Dr. Philip Micah Dopah, has call on President Ahmed BolaTinubu to suspend the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyeson Wike for six months for causing the problem in River State.

He stated this while interacting with Journalists in Jalingo.

“Many people condemned the action of President Ahmed BolaTinubu, describing it as unconstitutional.

“It is against the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended.

“For President Ahmed BolaTinubu to suspend an elected Governor and Members of the State House of Assembly, and shield the FCT Minister, Nyeson Wike, it is highly uncalled for. Rivers State belongs to God and a unit can not make a whole.

“If he does it with a different motive, posterity will judge him and also if he does it with to attack democracy or political enemies, posterity will judge him.

“President Ahmed BolaTinubu knows that the FCT Minister, Nyeson Wike has taken the position of God and River State. He talks with pride that he is the person that brought the Governor into power.

“I am calling on President Ahmed BolaTinubu that his action should not just stop at suspending the Governor and Members of the State House of Assembly, but the FCT Minister Nyeson Wike too must be suspended, for he is the cause of all the problem in River State. Shielding the FCT Minister will not give President Ahmed BolaTinubu a good name, and his integrity. As a father, he should be a father for all, and not father for one side, this is my clarion call.

The Cleric call on the newly appointed Military Administrator to play a neutral role in handling the affairs of the State.

“He should not allow any political party to manipulate him.

“To the people of Rivers State, Six months is just like six days. They should fear God, give maximum cooperation to the Military Administrator, for him to succeed in the assignment giving to him within the giving period – he said.

He urge the former Governor of Rivers State to prioritize peace and humility in his pursuit of power.

“The former Governor should refrain from taking on the role of God, nothing lasts forever.

He cautioned against manipulating others under the guise of helping them, stressing that true assistance should be given freely without expecting anything in return.

According to him, the former Governor’s ambition to hold both gubernatorial and ministerial positions simultaneously is uncalled for, warning that God is not pleased with his role in the Rivers State crisis. “Is God not the owner of Rivers State, not you?” Rev. Dopah asked, reminding the former Governor that he will return to God “naked” just as he came into the world – he added.
