The United Methodist Church of Nigeria, UMCN has today ordained 65 ministers at its ongoing annual conference holding at UMC Negatavah Charge, Jalingo.
Seven of the ordained ministers are deacons while the Fifty eight are ordained as Elders(Reverends) in the church.
Performing the ordination, Bishop Ande Emmanuel of the United Methodist Church of Nigeria Episcopal Area charged the newly ordained ministers to preach the gospel of peace to the world.
The Bishop while congratulating the Ministers said their ordination is an added tasks to them in ensuring the growth and development of the church in Nigeria.
Bishop Ande reminded them that the task of winning lost souls back to Christ should be their priority.
Speaking to Jalingo Journalists,one of the ordained ministers, Reverend Philip Auta appreciated the Bishop for promoting them to the new ranks and pledged to deliver their task judiciously.
The Reverend Philip recalled that his last ordained as a deacon was done in 2020 and thanked for making it possible to be part of those Inaugurated as elders in the UMCN.
He prayed for God’s wisdom to enable them to succeed in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and asked Church members to give them the needed cooperation and support.
Meanwhile the Guest Speaker at the conference, Dr Philip Micah Doppah faulted Pastors for not standing for the truth in the society.
Dr Phillip Micah Doppah who is the Dean Cabinet of United Methodist Church UMC Southern Conference reminded pastors that God will hold them accountable if sinners dies in their sinful ways without repentance.
The Guest Speaker challenged Christians particularly Ministers to be an examplar of God in all their dealings with the people to win more souls to God’s kingdom.
He said pastors should wake up from their slumber to correct wrongdoings in the society.
Dr Phillip who tagged the message ‘The role of Pastors as vessels of honor ‘ explained that God’s ministers have sacred responsibilities to do,among which includes proclaiming the gospel of God, living a worthy life,be humble,kind and respectful.
The Guest Speaker charged the newly ordained ministers to be of good characters to succeed in propagating the gospel of peace and church development.
