The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) has strongly condemned the purported plans to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate. According to FORIJA, this move is not only politically motivated but also a ploy to undermine Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s popularity in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been a strong advocate for her constituents and has worked tirelessly to bring development to her region. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, and she has gained a reputation as a dedicated and hardworking senator. However, it appears that her success has also made her a target for those who seek to undermine her.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has redefined the true meaning of representation in Nigerian democracy, demonstrating competency, capacity, and capabilities in carrying out her duties,” said Yusuf Akogu, President of FORIJA. “She has attracted projects that senators before her have failed to do, and we urge everyone involved in this ungodly plot to desist forthwith.”
FORIJA also emphasized the need for justice to prevail in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent sexual harassment allegation against the President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio. “An injustice to Senator Natasha is an injustice to Nigerian women who have been marginalized in political leadership for so long,” Akogu stated.
“It is also an injustice to the people of Kogi central who deserve the quality representation she is well known for, and to Nigerians who believe in transparency and accountability in governance.”
In a statement, FORIJA called on all relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served in this matter. “We urge the authorities to take Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations seriously and to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter,” Akogu said. “We also call on all Nigerians to stand in solidarity with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and to demand justice for her.”
