The Concerned PDP League (CPDPL) has applauded the judgment of the Supreme Court that upheld the prayers of senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu and the minority judgement of the Court of Appeal Enugu division.
The group also praised the supremacy of political parties in the management of their internal affairs including determination of its officials, membership and even nomination of candidates for election among others, to which the courts have no jurisdiction, which was one of the prayers of Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
In a press statement signed by the apex leader, comrade Daboikiabo Z Warmate and the national secretary Alhaji Tasiu Makila Muhammad, the group noted that the judgment has affirmed senator Samuel N Anyanwu as national secretary and further strengthened the nation’s democracy by affirming the powers of political parties to determine their internal affairs.
According to Warmate, It’s very laughable to see the national publicity secretary (NPS) Debo Olugunagba and his co- destructive elements in the party, that have relied on the Enugu high court declarative judgment and the Court of Appeal, Enugu division judgement all these months to suddenly turn three sixty (3-60) degree to relied on a purported national working committee (NWC) resolution and no longer the court judgements procured with fake party congress guideline.
“The supreme court justices accused the judges that gave the lead judgment at the lower and trial courts of improper evaluation of the evidence before their court and described their judgements as perverse, while they described the minority judgement at the court of appeal Enugu division as erudite and upheld it. They exposed the fact that, Sunday Udeh-Okoye was not a party to the suit as such a meddlison interloper who wants to profit from where he did not sow”.
He stated that “for the records, senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, did not and has never resigned as national secretary in the cause of his service to our great party as wildly and falsely speculated and by Kola Ologbodiyan, Ikenga Imo Ugochiyere, Debo Olugunagba and some retrogressive senior members and members.”
“And to further put the records straight for the benefits of party faithfuls and nigerians of what section 47(5) and 48(1) says. In the legal and constitutional context “Shall” signifies a mandatory obligation or requirements while “May” in contract means liberty; it does not indicate mandatory requirements. And in the legal context “assume” means to take over a certain duty or responsibility. We have painstakingly explained to prove that, neither does Sen. Samuel N. Anyanwu, needs to resign before contesting any election inconsonance with section 47(5) nor assume the office he contested in line with section 48(1)”.
The group advised the Oyo and Enugu States governors not to allow the expelled former national vice chairman South East zone chief Ali Odefa, make party faithfuls see them as enemies of the party for insisting on illegality and a misfit as our national secretary.
“That they should put an end to the interest and proxy interest that has led to proxy war against the innocent national secretary, whose insistence to be a party man while governors like engr. Seyi Makinde, were doing anti party under G5, cost him his gubernatorial victory in the 2023 Imo state governorship election”.
“We therefore, call on all party patriots to join hands with the national secretary most distinguished Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, to continue strengthening our great party for the 2027 general elections. Comrade Warmate added.
