A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of concealing a birth, neglect, and infanticide after a newborn baby boy was discovered dead outside a church in London.
The baby’s body was found inside a black Marks & Spencer bag by a refuse worker outside All Saints’ Church in Notting Hill at 12:46 PM on Tuesday. Police confirmed the woman, believed to be the child’s mother, has been taken to the hospital for medical care and remains under investigation.
Authorities are awaiting the results of a forensic post-mortem later this week to determine the cause of death. Superintendent Owen Renowden assured the public that the mother is receiving necessary support while detectives continue their inquiries.
While the case has drawn significant public attention, police have urged people not to speculate as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
