A sexual assault lawsuit against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been dismissed by a New York judge after the woman who filed it refused to publicly disclose her identity.
The case, initially brought forward last October, alleged that Combs assaulted her at a party in 1995.
The judge had previously ruled that the plaintiff, identified only as “Jane Doe,” needed to file the case under her real name to proceed. A deadline of March 20 was set, but she did not comply, nor did she request an extension. As a result, the case was officially dismissed on March 31.
Combs’ legal team welcomed the decision, dismissing the allegations as baseless. They argued that multiple lawsuits against the music producer were being pursued for media attention rather than legal grounds. They also pointed out that this was the second case brought against him by the same legal team that had been thrown out entirely.
The woman’s attorney had attempted to push forward the lawsuit while maintaining her anonymity, citing privacy concerns. However, the judge ruled that legal proceedings require transparency, particularly in cases involving serious accusations.
Combs continues to face multiple allegations from different accusers, all of whom claim he engaged in various forms of misconduct over the years. While his legal team maintains that these claims lack merit, the legal battles surrounding the former Bad Boy Records CEO are far from over.
