The Taraba state Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has congratulated the Taraba chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on activities marking their annual press week.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello said that Governor Agbu Kefas has also accepted the Security Man of the Year award nomination by the body.
The governor noted with delight the commitment of the journalists in constantly sticking with professionalism.
“Taraba NUJ has not had a press week for 10 years now due to circumstances beyond their control. This week’s events are thus historical in its import.
“The NUJ will continue to experience growth in its duties under my administration.
“I commend the leadership of the union of thoughfully recognising government effort in the areas of security.
“Journalists are a major partner in the work of moving Taraba forward.
He said he considers free speech and constructive criticisms as the main basis of any democratic experience.
Earlier, the NUJ leadership had described Dr. Kefas strides in security matters as the best in the history of the state. The body noted that there was a unanimous agreement by the NUJ management when the award nomination was mentioned.
The union has slated Thursday, 17th of April, 2025, for the governor’s award in its grand finale event at the C2C event centre, Jalingo.
