The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has issued a strong condemnation against recent accusations made by General Michael Langley, head of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) during a U.S. Senate hearing, where Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, was accused of “using the country’s gold reserves for personal protection rather than for the benefit of its people.”

The EFF has described these allegations as a deliberate attempt by Western powers to discredit Burkina Faso’s leadership and undermine the country’s sovereignty. According to the EFF, these accusations are not based on genuine concern for the people of Burkina Faso, but rather stem from imperialist interests aimed at maintaining control over Africa’s vast natural resources.

“The United States and its Western allies have a long history of interfering in the internal affairs of African nations under the guise of democracy, human rights, and transparency,” the EFF said in a statement. “Their real intention is to destabilize progressive African governments and regain control over the continent’s wealth.”

The EFF voiced its full support for Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s administration, commending his bold leadership in reclaiming national resources for the people of Burkina Faso and resisting the pressures of neo-colonialism.

“The people of Burkina Faso have the right to determine their own future and manage their own resources without foreign interference,” the EFF stated. “We stand in solidarity with Captain Traoré and call on all Pan-African movements, governments, and citizens to reject U.S. imperialism and rally behind Burkina Faso in this struggle for sovereignty and economic justice.”

The party further warned that Africa must learn from its history and resist modern forms of colonialism disguised as diplomatic or humanitarian intervention.

The EFF reiterated its commitment to a free, self-reliant, and united Africa, where resources benefit the masses, not foreign interests. The leadership called for vigilance, unity, and unwavering support for Burkina Faso and all nations striving to break free from external domination.
