Manchester United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana has purchased a £3.5 million mansion in Hale Barns, Greater Manchester, despite rumors surrounding his potential exit from the club. The luxurious property, situated near Altrincham, features a cinema, gym, basketball court, tennis court, and a heated swimming pool.
Onana’s new home suggests he may be planning to stay in Manchester long-term, contradicting speculation about his future at Old Trafford. The goalkeeper joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in a £47.5 million deal and is currently under contract until 2028.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has come to Onana’s defense, saying critics are “very wrong” for singling him out amid the team’s struggles. “Just look where Manchester United are in the Premier League,” Schmeichel said. “The players are not having the greatest time… It’s been a difficult year, so singling out anyone, I think that would be very wrong.”
Onana’s Manchester United teammate Harry Maguire also offered support, highlighting Onana’s experience in bouncing back from tough periods. Manager Ruben Amorim has backed Onana, planning to stick with him as first-choice goalkeeper despite competition from Altay Bayindir.
The mansion purchase has sparked debate about Onana’s commitment to Manchester United, with some viewing it as a sign of his intention to build a legacy at the club.
