Chelsea have no plans to bring Kevin De Bruyne back to Stamford Bridge, despite recent speculation linking the Manchester City star with a sensational return.
The Belgian midfielder, who left Chelsea for Wolfsburg in 2014 before becoming a Manchester City legend, announced earlier this month that he will leave the Etihad at the end of the season when his contract expires. This has opened the door for De Bruyne to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside England, with rumours suggesting moves to the United States or Saudi Arabia could be on the table.
While Chelsea and Liverpool have both been loosely mentioned among potential suitors, The Telegraph reports that the Blues are unlikely to pursue De Bruyne. One of the main reasons cited is the potential tactical challenge of fitting both De Bruyne and rising star Cole Palmer into the same lineup, creating an unwanted “headache” for the manager.
Chelsea’s focus in the upcoming summer transfer window, particularly in midfield, remains uncertain. However, it appears the club will not be targeting a reunion with De Bruyne as they continue shaping their squad for next season.
