Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is known for his exceptional longevity in the NBA, and a significant factor contributing to his enduring success is his substantial investment in his physical health.
According to his business partner, Maverick Carter, James spends approximately $1.5 million annually on training, recovery, and diet.
This considerable expenditure covers a range of cutting-edge treatments and personalized services, including cryotherapy, hyperbaric chambers, NormaTec leg boots, personal chefs, and trainers. As Carter explained, James has replicated the equipment found in team gyms in his own home and employs two trainers who accompany him everywhere. He also has masseuses and chefs on hand to ensure his body receives the best possible care.
James’ dedication to maintaining peak physical condition has undoubtedly contributed to his ability to perform at an elite level well into his 20s and beyond. As former teammate Mike Miller observed, “Where a lot of people don’t do it, he puts a lot of money behind taking care of his body. A lot of people think it’s a big expense, but that big expense has allowed him to make a lot more money for a long period of time.”
However, James himself has cast doubt on the $1.5 million figure, stating, “I’ve heard this crazy notion about how much money I spend on my body per year and I kind of just chuckle. That is a number that I will not disclose, but more importantly, I think it’s the time.” In a recent interview, he further debunked the claim, saying, “I don’t know where the hell that shit came from. I do take care of my body but I don’t know where that number came from.”
Regardless of the exact amount, James’ commitment to his physical health is evident in his continued dominance on the court. At 38 years old, he remains a top player in the league, with a recent performance showcasing his impressive abilities, including 37 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in a single game. Coach Tyronn Lue has even praised James’ physique, likening it to that of a 19-year-old.
