Rapper Chris Brown was arrested early Thursday morning at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester in connection with a nightclub bottle attack in London. Metropolitan Police officers detained the 36-year-old American artist just after 2 a.m. on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
The arrest relates to an incident that took place on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, where Brown allegedly assaulted music producer Abe Diaw by smashing a bottle over his head and inflicting severe injuries.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Brown had arrived in the UK on a private jet, landing at Manchester Airport the previous afternoon. Detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit traveled to Manchester to make the arrest after inquiries confirmed his presence in the city.
“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed.
Brown is currently being held at a local custody suite in Manchester, where detectives are conducting further questioning. The incident has raised serious concerns, and the investigation is ongoing .
