The newly elected Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Taraba State chapter, Rev. Fr. Williams Awoshiri has pledged to prioritise unity and social justice throughout his tenure.
He stated this shortly after his emergence at a peaceful election held in Jalingo. Awoshiri said his leadership would be guided by the association’s motto, “That they all may be one” (John 17:21), stressing that peace and development are impossible without unity and justice.
“There can be no peace without unity, and no development without justice,” he said. “My administration will engage stakeholders across all faiths to promote peaceful coexistence and equitable development in Taraba.”
Awoshiri, a Catholic priest and academics, assured of an open and inclusive leadership, committed to strengthening inter-denominational and interfaith relationships.
“Our diversity is not a weakness but a strength. When the Christian body is united, we can spread the gospel more effectively and impact the wider society,” he said.
