Telecom giant MTN has earned a spot in the first-ever Brand Africa Hall of Fame, gaining wide recognition for its lasting influence on the continent and its efforts to make life better for millions of Africans.
The induction places MTN among the top brands that have made a real difference in people’s lives and supported Africa’s development through digital and social innovation.
MTN was recognised in multiple categories in the 2025 Brand Africa 100 rankings, including being named the Most Admired African Brand, the Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Society and the Environment, and the Most Admired Telecommunications Brand. It also received the honour of being the Most Admired African Brand Contributing to a Better Africa.
Brand Africa launched its Hall of Fame this year to celebrate brands that have consistently shaped the continent in positive ways over the past ten years. MTN’s entry into the Hall of Fame reflects its long-standing commitment to improving digital access, boosting financial inclusion, and investing in meaningful projects that support communities.
With operations in 16 African countries, MTN has steadily grown into one of the continent’s most trusted names. Since 2021, the company has followed a strategic vision called Ambition 2025, which focuses on leading digital solutions that drive Africa’s progress. Through this approach, MTN has expanded its services beyond telecoms, offering digital finance tools and helping more people connect to the internet.
MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita said the brand’s recognition comes at a special time, during Africa Month, adding to the importance of the honour. He credited the support of the company’s employees, partners, and stakeholders across Africa for making the achievement possible. Their efforts, he said, have helped MTN earn the trust of millions and continue to deliver value through technology and social impact.
In addition to the Brand Africa recognition, MTN has once again been ranked as South Africa’s most valuable brand. The 2025 Brand Finance Top 100 Report valued the brand at R50.7 billion, maintaining its top position in the country for over a decade.
As digital access becomes even more crucial across the continent, MTN’s work in expanding connectivity, promoting innovation, and investing in communities continues to put it at the forefront of Africa’s transformation. With this new recognition, the company stands as a clear example of how business and purpose can come together to shape a brighter future for the continent.
