Troops from Sector 5 of Operation UDO KA, in a joint operation with personnel from the 63 Brigade and the Department of State Services (DSS), have intercepted a lorry carrying more than 164,000 live cartridges, allegedly intended for the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed faction, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The operation, conducted on 29th May 2025 along the Asaba–Onitsha Expressway, was based on credible intelligence and resulted in the arrest of a suspected arms courier, identified as Mr. Emeka Omenife.

According to intelligence sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, Omenife was swiftly handed over to the DSS for questioning.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to being part of a smuggling network responsible for moving ammunition from Ghana into Nigeria for use by IPOB/ESN operatives.
Acting on this information, troops detained his alleged accomplice, Uchenna Obiora, at the Onitsha–Awka tollgate on 30th May 2025, where he was said to be awaiting delivery of the shipment.
This second arrest led to the successful seizure of the lorry containing the concealed ammunition.
