Eid el-Kabir: AIG Zone 5 Orders Deployment of Personnel to Worship Centres

By Deborah Coker

Abuja, June 5, 2025 AIG Salma Dogo-Garba, in charge of Zone 5, comprising Edo and Delta, Salma Dogo-Garba, has ordered massive deployment of personnel to worship centres ahead of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration in the zone.

This is contained in a statement by SP Tijani Momoh, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO) and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja on Thursday.

Dogo-Garba who also ordered the massive deployment of personnel to linking/exit routes in the zone as well as highways, motor parks, critical infrastructure and vulnerable points says the deployment is aimed at ensuring hitch free celebration.

He said it was also in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to all Commissioners of Police across State Commands and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to ensure public safety and security at EID Prayer grounds, recreational centres and other vulnerable points.

“As part of efforts to guarantee a hitch-free celebration, the Commissioners of Police of Delta and Edo commands must ensure visibility policing, crowd control and implementation of robust Anti-crime prevention and control strategies in their respective commands for adequate security of lives and properties.

“They are to strengthen security in the entire linking roads, entry and exit points, highways, city centres and other strategic locations in their areas of responsibility.

“I am mindful of the increase in volume of traffic occasioned by the construction of fly over bridges within the metropolis as well as people traveling for the Sallah holidays.

“Therefore there should be massive deployment of personnel for traffic control duties with a view to easing traffic congestion during the Eid-El-Kabir celebration,” he said.

The AIG further warned Policemen to be professional in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
Additionally,

He also implored members of the public, especially travelers and other road users to cooperate with Police personnel deployed on the highways and other duty posts across the zone.

Dogo-Garba further felicitated and rejoiced with all Muslim faithful throughout the Zone and wished them a joyous and peaceful celebration of the 2025 Eid-El-Adha scheduled for Friday.

“Once again I wish the Muslim ummah and other residents in the zone a happy Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

” Every resident in the zone should be security conscious, vigilant and report any incidents, suspicious persons or movements observed within their neighborhood to the nearest Police station,” he added.
