A British national, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, has miraculously survived the devastating Air India plane crash that claimed the lives of over 200 people in Ahmedabad, India. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was en route to London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed shortly after takeoff, bursting into flames.
According to Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik, Ramesh, who was seated in seat 11A, is receiving treatment for impact injuries on his chest, eyes, and feet. “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” Ramesh told Indian media, recalling the terrifying moment.
The flight, AI171, had 242 people on board, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. Sadly, over 204 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, with the death toll expected to rise.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine what led to the tragic incident. “We are saddened by the tragic loss of life,” said Air India officials, expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
