The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving passenger experience amidst travel challenges, particularly those stemming from operational and weather-related disruptions.
Dubbed the “Propel Reprotection System,” this advanced technology platform is designed specifically to assist Nigerian airlines in managing passenger re-protection during flight disruptions. The system enables airlines to seamlessly transfer affected passengers to available flights with partner airlines, ensuring no loss of revenue while enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, emphasized the significance of this collaborative effort among three industry leaders, which promises to streamline operations and boost efficiency in air travel. The consortium includes Aviation Assist Hub, responsible for operational logistics, Aviation Technology Solutions (Avitech), providing technological support, and Leadway Assurance, offering financial backing.
Mr. Micheal Achimugu, representing the NCAA, highlighted the urgency of addressing flight disruptions, stating that passengers deserve top-notch service aligned with global standards.
With discussions underway to integrate the system across various domestic carriers, the NCAA anticipates a reduction in flight delays and an overall improvement in the flying experience for Nigerian passengers.
The pilot phase of this initiative is set to commence in August, marking a pivotal moment for the aviation industry in Nigeria.
