The Nigeria Police Force has announced an extension of the tinted glass permit enforcement deadline to August 12, 2025, in response to widespread public concerns regarding the digital application process.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun approved this extension to facilitate further enhancements to the system, ensuring it remains “user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all.”
In a statement on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted that this extension allows the NPF time to implement “additional enhancements and refinements” to both physical and online application methods. “The Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians,” the statement read, highlighting the importance of public feedback in refining the process.
The NPF reiterated that the official portal, [www.possap.gov.ng](http://www.possap.gov.ng), is the only authorized platform for permit applications and cautioned against unauthorised charges. Citizens are encouraged to report any undue or hidden fees, as well as extortion during the application or biometric capturing processes, directing complaints to the police hotline at 09169967000.
This extension is part of the police’s efforts to streamline verification procedures and minimise delays in the permit approval process. The NPF remains committed to “public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery,” expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their “cooperation and patience” throughout these reforms.
Motorists are reminded that they now have until August 12 to regularise their tinted glass permits before enforcement begins. The NPF assures the public that this additional time will be utilised to address concerns and enhance the system’s efficiency.
