At the official flag-off ceremony in Obudu, the Senator’s Constituency Officer, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, emphasized the significance of the intervention.
According to him, the solar streetlights are expected to “significantly reduce incidents of insecurity while also promoting nighttime economic activities in the benefiting areas.”
Communities benefiting from the project include:

Mr. Mgbantul reaffirmed Senator Jarigbe’s unwavering commitment to lighting up strategic streets across the senatorial district. He described the project as part of a broader vision to drive development and ensure community safety through innovative and renewable energy initiatives.
He also urged local leaders and youths to take ownership of the infrastructure, stressing the importance of protecting the installations from vandalism and misuse.
“These projects are for the benefit of everyone, and their sustainability depends on our collective responsibility,” he noted.
This solar streetlight initiative marks another milestone in Senator Jarigbe’s ongoing strategy to leverage renewable energy in bridging the rural infrastructure gap — ultimately fostering safer, more connected, and economically vibrant communities across Cross River North.
