Dunamis Senior Pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche, has rejected a N30 million cash gift from the Kebbi State Government, offered in support of a recent crusade held in the state.
According to reports, Enenche suggested that the funds be redirected to support government projects or donated to orphanages instead.
“I think you can use it for government projects or for the less privileged in the state, such as towards orphanages,” Enenche was quoted as saying.
However, the government officials insisted that the money couldn’t be returned, citing it as a gift from the Governor. They proposed that the funds be given to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to fence a cemetery ground provided by the state.
Enenche remained resolute in his decision, stating that Dunamis Church would instead donate the funds to CAN for the fencing project, effectively rejecting the government’s gift.
The exchange was reported to have been lighthearted, despite the firm stance taken by Enenche. Notably, Dunamis Church had previously shown support to victims of herders’ attacks in Yelwata, Benue, by sending relief items.
The church maintained its integrity by not accepting any offerings or donations during the crusade. Enenche’s decision to reject the gift has been seen as a demonstration of the church’s commitment to its values.
