Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty of transportation for prostitution, but acquitted of more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
The verdict was reached after a trial that began in May 2025 in New York, where prosecutors alleged that Diddy used his business empire to transport women and male sex workers across state lines for recorded sexual performances.
According to the jury’s decision, Diddy faces up to 10 years in prison for each count of transportation for prostitution. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, argued that Diddy should walk out of the court as a free man, given the acquittals on the most serious charges. “Whether or not he’s sentenced to time behind bars, his legacy has already been altered. This will be part of the story, always,” said culture writer Toni Roberts.
The trial centered around accusations that Diddy ran a criminal enterprise involving exploitation of women. Despite the guilty verdict, Diddy’s legal team has signaled plans to appeal. The case has sparked intense public debate about abuse of power in the entertainment industry ¹ ².
Diddy’s legal troubles aren’t over yet, with around 150 civil lawsuits alleging abuse and harassment still pending. The sentencing is expected in the coming months, and legal experts say Diddy could face house arrest, probation, or a reduced jail term, given his clean prior record and high-profile status.
