BREAKING: Tinubu Declares State Of Emergency In Rivers, Suspends Gov Fubara, Deputy

On Saturday, the South-South chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their singular candidate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

In addition, stakeholders supported the party’s governors from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, and Edo as the exclusive candidates for their respective governorship races.

Julius Ihonvbere, leader of the House of Representatives, initiated the motion to adopt the communiqué, with Adams Oshiomhole seconding the proposal.

In the communiqué, Victor Giadom, the APC’s national vice chairman for the South-South, highlighted the region’s endorsement of Tinubu, praising his transformative leadership and initiatives, including the creation of the South-South Development Commission and the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road.

Giadom expressed appreciation for the significant developmental projects in the area and passed a vote of confidence on Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his exemplary leadership and efforts to unify the South-South region in support of Tinubu’s renewed Hope Agenda.

He further encouraged Governors Duoye Diri of Bayelsa and Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers to join the APC fold, emphasising the benefits of aligning with the Progressive family.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was commended for his support of Tinubu and for enhancing infrastructure in the FCT.

Ali Dalori, the acting national chairman of the APC, praised the region’s leadership for convening the meeting and clarified that the Tinubu administration does not aim to establish a one-party system in Nigeria.

Senate President Akpabio forecasted that the APC’s influence would soon extend across the entire zone, suggesting that Governors Fubara and Diri may soon join the party.

Governor Okpebholo noted the South-South’s progress in governance, attributing it to Tinubu’s backing. The meeting was attended by key political figures, including Akpabio, Governors Umo Eno, Bassey Edet, and representatives from Delta.
