Linda Yaccarino has left her position as the chief executive officer of X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
She made the announcement on the platform, nearly two years after joining in June 2023.
Yaccarino, who previously led advertising at NBCUniversal, took over leadership of X during a turbulent time when many advertisers had pulled out and a large portion of the staff had been let go.
At the time, she was expected to help steer the company toward a new direction and support Musk’s goal of transforming the platform into a multi-purpose app.
Her departure comes while Elon Musk remains active on the platform, despite stepping down from the CEO title.
Many observers believed that Yaccarino’s power within the company was limited, as Musk continued to control most of the major decisions.
Although no clear reason has been given for her resignation, her time at X saw a major shift in the platform’s tone.
While the site was once seen as leaning left politically, it now gives more visibility to right-wing content.
During her tenure, Musk’s involvement in both X and his other businesses continued to grow, and he has recently been facing problems at Tesla, including falling sales.
He is also involved in ongoing disputes with political figures such as former US President Donald Trump.
