Cleric Lauds Nwoko As A Unique Leader, Champion Of The Common Man

By Deborah Coker

Abuja, July 12, 2025 – A Cleric, Pastor Azubuike Okafor, has described Sen. Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta) as a rare breed politician and the voice of the commoners.

Okafor said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja on Saturday.

According to him, at a time when the gap between the powerful and the powerless continues to widen, Sen. Ned Nwoko has emerged as a rare breed of politician, a true voice of the commoners.

“Representing Delta North Senatorial District, Nwoko has consistently shown that his heart beats for the people at the grassroots, the forgotten, and the voiceless.

Unlike many who ascend to public office and disconnect from the realities of everyday Nigerians, Nwoko remains deeply rooted in the struggles and aspirations of his constituents.

“From rural communities without basic amenities to urban centres yearning for infrastructure and reforms, he has not only listened but acted.”

He added that the lawmaker’s legislative agenda was shaped by the needs of farmers, traders, artisans, students, and the unemployed youth.

“Nwoko’s commitment is evident in his push for the creation of Anioma State, a dream that speaks to justice, equity, and inclusion.

“He understands that true representation begins with giving marginalised communities a voice, a platform, and a place in the national structure.

“His advocacy transcends politics; it is about dignity, opportunity, and fair representation,” he said.

Okafor further said that beyond the senate floor, Nwoko who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation interventions in health, education, and social welfare have touched thousands.

“Whether it is in sponsoring bills that promote free malaria treatment or inaugurating initiatives that empower women and youths, Nwoko has shown that leadership must be felt, not just seen.

“In Nwoko, the commoners have found not just a representative but a defender. A man who speaks their language, walks their path, and fights their battles.

“He is not just a senator; he is a symbol of hope and a tireless voice for those who have long been silenced,” he also said.
