A 20-year-old Palestinian-American man was killed during an attack by Israeli settlers in the West Bank town of Sinjel, north of Ramallah.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the death of Sayfollah Musallet, who died after being severely beaten.
The attack occurred as settler violence continues to increase across the occupied West Bank.
Local authorities in Sinjel described the incident as a brutal assault and claimed that Israeli military forces entered the area during the attack, interfering with medical teams trying to reach the injured.
According to a family acquaintance, Musallet, also known as Saif, was a U.S. citizen born in Tampa, Florida.
He had been visiting the West Bank since early June to spend time with relatives and friends. He later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Ramallah.
The municipality of Sinjel reported that settlers also shot another Palestinian man during the same incident.
He died after being hit in the chest. Ten others were injured. There were also claims that settlers attacked an ambulance near the scene.
A video shared online shows an emergency vehicle with shattered windows.
Israel’s military acknowledged that reports of the incident are being reviewed by the Israeli Security Agency and police.
The U.S. State Department confirmed it is aware of reports concerning the death of an American citizen but did not release further information.
Musallet’s family is calling on the U.S. government to carry out an independent investigation into the killing.
This incident comes as tensions rise in the West Bank, with recent Israeli military operations displacing thousands and damaging several communities.
Palestinian officials link these actions to ongoing settlement expansion, which they say contributes to regular settler assaults on Palestinians.
This is not the first time a U.S. citizen has died in the West Bank in recent years.
Previous deaths have included a teenager and a young woman killed during clashes or protests near Israeli settlements.
