Israel has warned that renewed conflict with Iran may be on the horizon as it seeks to block Tehran from restarting its nuclear and missile development efforts.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, speaking during a high-level military meeting, stressed the need for a strategic plan to ensure Iran does not reestablish its weapons programmes.
The statement comes in the aftermath of a short but fierce period of fighting between Israel and Iran in June. Beginning on June 13, Israel, with support from the United States, launched a 12-day military operation inside Iran.
The offensive targeted key military infrastructure, nuclear sites, scientists, civilians, and senior Iranian officials.
Iran retaliated by launching missile and drone strikes on Israeli military and intelligence facilities.
The confrontation ended after a US-mediated ceasefire was reached on June 23.
Katz also addressed other areas where Israeli forces are active. He referred to ongoing military operations in Gaza and Yemen, stating that these fronts need to be brought under control through continuous offensive action.
He also referred to past Israeli operations in Lebanon and Syria as part of its wider regional approach.
This latest development signals that tensions remain high, and the region could see more instability if diplomatic efforts fail to ease military pressures between Israel and Iran.
