In a bold and commendable step towards improving maternal and child healthcare delivery in Kogi State, Hon. Halidu Usman has officially flagged off the construction of an ultramodern maternity clinic at Idah Local Government Area.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which drew the attention of traditional rulers, community stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and enthusiastic residents, marks a new chapter in the health and well-being of mothers and children in the region. The project is aimed at reducing maternal mortality rates, enhancing access to quality prenatal and postnatal care, and providing a safe and hygienic environment for childbirth.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Usman emphasized the critical importance of accessible and quality healthcare, particularly for rural and underserved communities. He noted that the facility, when completed, would be fully equipped with modern medical tools, delivery suites, recovery rooms, and skilled healthcare personnel to ensure comprehensive maternal care services.
“This project is more than just a building; it is a statement of our commitment to the lives of our mothers and children. No woman should die while giving life,” Hon. Usman stated. “This is the beginning of a new era in Idah’s healthcare system, and I assure you that this is only one of many people-centered projects to come.”
The initiative has been widely applauded by members of the community who have long called for better healthcare infrastructure. Many believe that the clinic will ease the burden on existing health facilities and drastically improve maternal and child health outcomes in the area.
The ultramodern maternity clinic is expected to be completed in record time and will serve as a benchmark for similar interventions across Kogi State.
