After 25 days of football, Euro 2025 will conclude with a clash between England and Spain in Basel.
With seven Arsenal players involved, at least one Gunner is guaranteed to leave Switzerland as a European champion.
The final is a repeat of the 2023 World Cup decider, where Spain came out on top. This time, England will aim to turn the tables and add to their trophy collection.
England’s road to the final has been full of drama.
A loss to France in their opening match put them under pressure, but they responded strongly with big wins over the Netherlands and Wales to progress from the group.
In the quarter-finals, they came back from two goals down against Sweden, forcing penalties thanks to Michelle Agyemang’s goal and eventually winning the shootout.
The semi-final was another close battle, with Agyemang scoring a stoppage-time equaliser before Chloe Kelly hit the winner in extra-time against Italy.
Agyemang has made a big impact off the bench, scoring twice in just 89 minutes across three games. Kelly also has a goal and assist in 171 minutes.
Captain Leah Williamson and forward Alessia Russo have started all five matches, with Russo collecting one goal and three assists.
Beth Mead has played 245 minutes, contributing a goal and an assist, while Lotte Wubben-Moy is yet to feature.
Spain’s journey has been more comfortable. They won all their group games, scoring 14 times, and then beat Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
In the semi-final, they needed extra-time to get past Germany with a late winner. Mariona Caldentey has one goal and two assists in the tournament and is chasing another title to add to her impressive season.
The two teams each won a game when they met in the Nations League earlier this year. With both squads filled with talent and form, Sunday’s final promises to be a tight contest.
