Russia launched new airstrikes across Ukraine overnight, killing at least 27 people and injuring dozens more.
The attacks included a strike on a prison in the Zaporizhzhia region and a medical facility, Ukrainian authorities reported on Tuesday, July 29.
According to Ukraine’s Justice Ministry, four glide bombs hit a correctional facility in southeastern Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of 16 prisoners.
Over 90 others were injured in the prison strike, which took place amid a wave of intense attacks on civilian areas.
In another attack, Russian ballistic missiles targeted a healthcare center, though details of casualties from that strike remain limited.
The overnight bombardment continued Russia’s pattern of targeting civilian infrastructure, even as tensions rise globally.
These strikes occurred despite recent warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who has threatened to impose sanctions and trade penalties on Russia if it does not end its attacks.
The Kremlin, however, has not altered its course and remains unmoved by threats from Washington.
Images from the Zaporizhzhia frontline town of Orikhiv show buildings with shattered walls and streets lined with anti-drone nets, reflecting the ongoing dangers faced by residents.
The region has been under regular shelling for months, with many civilians caught in the crossfire.
Ukrainian emergency teams are working around the clock to respond to the destruction, but the growing number of attacks is straining resources.
The latest wave of violence adds to the human toll of the conflict, which shows no signs of slowing down.
