Kogi RAAMP: A United Front For Rural Progress

The Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Kogi RAAMP) stands tall as a beacon of rural transformation—driven by integrity, inclusivity, and undeniable progress.

Under the effective coordination of Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu, the State Project Coordinator, and with the unflinching support of Engineer Abdulmutalib Muhammad, Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Rural Development, Kogi RAAMP has been nothing short of a strategic intervention in rural infrastructure and agricultural growth.

The project is not a one-man show. At its core lies a collaborative spirit. The State Project Monitoring Committee (SPMC), chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, works in tandem with stakeholders across the state. Traditional rulers, community leaders, opinion moulders, women and youth groups, and market associations are not mere observers—they are active participants. Their voices are heard, their contributions are valued, and their expectations are shaping how the project evolves.

Kogi RAAMP interventions are geographically balanced and strategically located:

For instance in Kogi West: Road upgrades at Ilai-Ifeolukotun and market development at Aiyegunle.

Kogi Central: The vital AKU-Obajana road and AKU Market Hub are seeing extensive interventions.

Kogi East: Rural access roads like Elubi-Etiaja and the transformation of Ajaka Market underline the project’s deep reach. This is just to mention a few and not isolated efforts as works are ongoing in all most every local government areas of the state.
They represent an integrated vision to improve rural accessibility, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
From road rehabilitation to agro-logistics development, Kogi RAAMP will be creating real value where it matters most in the daily lives of farmers, traders, and rural entrepreneurs.

Every culvert constructed, every rural market modernized, and every kilometre of road rehabilitated is tied to a larger vision—empowering the rural populace. This is about more than infrastructure; it’s about economy, dignity, and sustainability.

The project, funded by the World Bank and implemented with robust counterpart support from the Kogi State Government, is a hallmark of transparency, accountability, and community ownership. Environmental and social safeguards are integrated from start to finish, ensuring development does not come at the cost of social or ecological harm.

In light of the above and ongoing milestones, now is the time for unity and not division.
The success of Kogi RAAMP does not rest on government alone. It requires continued community engagement, stakeholder advocacy, and a shared sense of ownership.

His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of the State envisions a Kogi where no rural community is left behind.
Kogi RAAMP is one of the critical vehicles driving that vision forward.

As the project progresses, the charge is clear:
Let every stakeholder—citizen, critic, or champion—bring their hands to the plough. Let us speak facts, embrace transparency, and celebrate the resilient journey of Kogi RAAMP in unlocking rural prosperity.

Together, we are not just building roads—we are paving paths to opportunity.
