FCT Fmr Rep Cries Maltreatment, Maginalistion Of Indigenes, Calls For An End

By SUNDAY ABBA, Abuja

A scathing press statement has been issued by
Former Member of the House of Representatives for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency has lamented what he described as demanding an immediate end to the brutal attacks, threats, and marginalization against FCT indigenes.

In a strongly-worded statement titled “Fmr Reps Member Jiba DEMANDS END to Marginalisation and Attacks”, Hon. Jiba expressed outrage over the cold-blooded killing of a youth during a peaceful protest at the National Assembly.

“This protest was sparked by the shameful omission of FCT indigenes from the recently constituted North Central Development Commission (NCDC),” he said.

Hon. Jiba also highlighted the callous demolitions in Karasana and Bwari, which according to him were carried out without proper compensation, leading to further tragedy, including the death of another indigene.

Despite his initial support for the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Jiba said, “Enough is enough!, and that FCT indigenes will no longer tolerate being treated like second-class citizens.”

Drawing inspiration from the FCT minister’s past tenure as the best governor in his state, Hon. Jiba urged the minister to replicate that exemplary performance in the FCT.

He demanded an end to the demolition and constant attacks and intimidation by the police and developers on ancestral land.

Furthermore, Hon. Jiba called on the FCT minister to replicate the method used in resettling the Gishiri and Piba communities to other affected communities.

He emphasised that FCT indigenes are peace-loving and accommodating but will not tolerate the barbaric acts of killings by security agencies meant to protect lives and properties.

Hon. Jiba ultimately demanded immediate intervention from the FCT minister to put an end to these senseless attacks and marginalisation.

He also scrutinised the role of the Senator representing FCT and the two House of Representatives members for Abuja North and South, questioning their duty to protect and serve FCT residents’ interests.

The former lawmaker concluded by calling on all FCT indigenes to remain firm and vigilant, vowing to continue fighting for their rights and demanding justice.
